Saturday’s Gymnastics Seminar was incredible as we were visited by Dusty Hyland of CrossFit Gymnastics and Dogtown CrossFit who brought with him a crew of all-star coach’s such as Lindsey Valenzuela, Kelly Thompson, and Scott McGee. Dusty came well prepared to teach CrossFit Competition Gymnastics to the masses specifically going over bar work, which included the kip and butterfly methods, handstand push up positioning that included various kipping methods even going as far as to discuss the parrallette handstand push up. He then concluded with the non-false grip muscle up and went over transitioning from top to bottom with more efficiency. Every athlete, whether they were a competitive CrossFitter or not benefited from such fine coaching with Dusty and his staff doing a phenomenal job of coaching to the masses. At any given point you could see every athlete working with a coach based on their individual skill level getting better with each minute of tutelage. Not everyone in attendance was a competitive CrossFitter and that really did not matter as they learned skills to better their CrossFit knowledge. Everyone came away having gotten better and ready to put what they had learned into practice. In addition, Dusty not only went over proper gymnastics technique but how to properly program it into programming a serice invaluable for all the coaches in the room. From the time Dusty walked into the room until the time he left the gym had an amazing energy about it. Something only Dusty brings with his love of gymnastics.
A welcome surprise was along with Dusty came the CrossFit Journal who filmed the entire seminar. All those in attendance will get to see themselves being coached by Dusty and company very soon once the journal article comes out. Definitely a fitting way to relive such an awesome experience. In addition, todays main site workout was also filmed after the seminar with Mike G and Coach’s Katie, Mike, Smiley, Daniel and Matt V taking part alongside Lindsey Valenzuela and Scott McGee. The workout was brutal and a ton of fun. Below is the video right off the main CrossFit site!!! What a blast of a Saturday, an incredible experience where our friend Dusty Hyland not only brought his phenomenal coaching expertise but his love for gymnastics.

Once again, I want to thank Dusty Hyland and Lindsey Valenzuela, my dear friend and colleague for taking the time out of her day away from her husband to show Precision CrossFit some love! Thank you, thank you, thank you!
