A very happy birthday goes out to our Head Coach Jose Cobian. I still remember meeting Jose back in 2011. He walked into the former CrossFit FAST looking to get started on his CrossFit journey. He had watched the games via ESPN while he was bar-tending and said to himself; “I got to try that.” Flash forward 7 years to the present. You’ll find a heck of a story about how CrossFit changed his life. It has provided him with meeting the love of his life, life long friendships, 2 Regional Team appearances, and… his career.

Jose has become more than just that average CrossFit coach that you see at your everyday facility. He has become far more superior. In fact, he is not average in any way. He is beginning to become a true master of the sport. He puts countless hours into the gyms success, individualized programming, and his education.  I often find Jose listening to various podcasts, looking at different programming, or reading specific books. He now assists me at every major competition that I Coach in. I have actually become quite dependent on him at these times. His calm demeanor, ability to pay attention to minute details, and amazing patience always help my very firey, sometimes sloppy, intense personality. He’s the true Yin to my Yang. While I often overhear him tell others how I Coach the athletes and he assists. I often correct him to say… we’re coaching these athlete’s. We’re a team. Assistant’s don’t always gain the same respect of an athlete that a head coach does. However, I feel Jose does. I can see they trust him whole heatedly. So that doesn’t make him an assistant at all. He now has some of his own athletes and he’s having tremendous success with them. One being Alison Locke who he coached to the Games this year.

I have so much more to say about this guy. I feel I can go on and on about how lucky Precision is to have him. I trust him 100% with a gym that literally provides for my entire family. Precision is my baby. I have literally dedicated my entire professional career towards its success. So to say this about Jose. To trust him in such a manor.  It say’s something about his character. Wall of Blue I know you see it every day. So on this day I want to wish a very happy birthday to such an important and loved individual. Our Coach… Jose Cobian.
