We would like to take some time to recognize Greg Shimpff, our spotlighted member of the week. Over the last few months, Greg has shown significant improvement in every aspect of CrossFit. Although these are not always the most important things in what makes up a CrossFiter at Precision. For someone who has been training as hard as Greg has been to compete, it is very important and worthy of recognition. What once were glaring weaknesses have now turned into strength’s for Greg. With gymnastics becoming his strongest movements his muscle up’s are some of the best in the gym. He pays significant attention to detail, which makes his technique beautiful to watch. Along with this, Greg has gotten increasingly stronger in all his lifts. He is now hitting numbers far beyond what he ever thought possible. This time last year Greg could only do a handful of the workouts as prescribed. Now he does them all that way sometimes beating the top times in the gym. I have had the privilege to coach Greg over the past two years and his work ethic is second to none. However, what makes him special is his vitality for life. Greg always finds the good in everything and can make anyone’s day better. He doesn’t take himself too seriously and doesn’t think others should either, which makes him special to us all. He always has a smile on his face and places one on everyone else’s in his presence. His eagerness to learn and get better is contagious as he is constantly looking to hone his craft learning from all willing to teach him. He also spends some of his free time researching methods on his own. I know as a coach I have definitely learned from him and can say that he has made me better. Greg loves to share his knowledge with others as is always willing to help those around him. He will spend hours in the gym lending a hand teaching all those that want to learn. We at Precision CrossFit value Greg as an athlete but most importantly as a friend, and person. He is part of what makes Precision CrossFit such an awesome community. Look for Greg to represent us all proudly at the Beach Cities Battle and Shakedown Team Series in August. I know he will give it his all and represent proudly! Fitness-Strength-Community
