You know there is so much that leads up to any Shakedown Series event. Lots of planning. A ton of different workout variations. Setting up for the event and judges briefings. Then dealing with any hiccups that arise, and believe it or not, there are always hiccups. But when everything is all said and done, and I look at the athletes’ faces, I can say it was well worth it.

This was the first Shakedown that I actually gave myself a chance to walk around the event. I have never actually gone out to tent city or checked out our vendors in the past. It was awesome to talk to athletes and other gym owners. I got to pose for pictures and really take in the positive vibes that made up this year’s 2015 Summer Shakedown. However, one of the coolest things for me to witness was the presence of the Wall of Blue. I mean, you all crushed it!

Every time Precision took the floor, it was loud and not only did you guys compete, but you also annihilated everyone in your heat. Even the MC’s were telling me how ridiculous it was. We had 5 teams go Intermediate and 1 team go RX’D. But as everyone knew going into the event, the Shakedown Intermediate workouts are the Advanced workouts at every other comp in California. So going Intermediate at the Shakedown and finishing in the top 10 means you are a total bad ass!! Precision had 3 teams finish in the top 5, 5 teams finish in the top 10, and all 6 teams finish in the top 20!! Freaking bad ass. Here is how they fared:

As a coach, I could not be more proud of your performances. Our RX’D team took on 5 juggernaut teams. These other teams did not come all from one box, but from multiple and were made of several Regional athletes. We all came from one roof. We took 1st and 3rd on the events on the main floor. If not for a small slip up on the floater, we would have been in 1st place! However, at that level mistakes cannot happen, so it pushed us to 4th. But I will take that. Especially with my athletes and only my athletes. With the rest of the pack taking 4 top 10 spots. It just goes to show where everyone currently is at with the programming, how prepared you all are to compete at a high level, and how ready you are to have success in the Open come March. Due to the fact that most gyms are comprised of upper intermediate athletes, our gym, which a mixture of just about every level, is ready to throw-down. I would put us up against anyone in all of So Cal right now. Heck, I sort of just did. Well done, TEAM PRECISION. I look forward to working on the next one for you. Stay tuned for some big news regarding this year’s BATTLE OF THE BOXES!
