When Marty, Greg, and I came together to open up Precision CrossFit we were faced with many unknowns. Of course all new businesses are faced with unknowns as it is a scary time for everyone. Not only are your efforts affecting you but they are also affecting your families. In our case we also had several CrossFiters relying on us to give them a quality environment to train in and a community they could be proud of. For lack of better words we were definitely under some pressure! However, one constant always remained day in and day out, meeting after meeting and that was that we really had one another’s back. I feel that the three of us started laying the ground works for our FAMILY first establishment among each other well before we opened our doors. Marty has two beautiful twin daughters and his amazing wife Caryn, Greg two awesome young boys and his supportive wife Julie, and I with my little guy and my rock Emalee. The three of us have families that come first with wives that allowed us to embark on a crazy dream of opening a CrossFit. They have felt the stress with us and have instilled confidence in us when we have needed it. This very confidence has given us the fuel to do something special like open Precision CrossFit. Over the last 2 months I have witnessed Greg, Marty, and I instill each other with confidence every day being pillars of support for one another. For the first time in my CrossFit life I feel as if I can look ahead without having to constantly look over my shoulder. We have a collective vision that will not be changed every couple of months and we know what we truly want to become. We are all about Family! Yes we want to be the best CrossFit out there but we understand that we will only get there through putting families first. Allowing parents a means of working out in a clean, child friendly environment was one of our highest priorities. Everyday I walk into the box I am now reminded of this priority as I often hear children giggling and playing in our playroom while I hear the adults getting after it in the workout area. People are bringing their friends and staying for hours after their workouts to cheer others on or relax for a bit before going home. Our little community is growing by leaps and bounds everyday. The three of us visited many awesome CrossFits before opening up Precision. We found out a few important things. They all had central focuses rooted in CrossFit, they all put their members first, they all understand programming, and most importantly they all had amazing community’s. In opening our doors we wanted to bring the Conejo Valley a true CrossFit establishment. As Marty stated Saturday morning; “It takes a community to raise a CrossFiter.”
